Youth unemployment, caused by among other things skill mismatches, is a major concern in South Sudan. An estimated 50.6% of South Sudanese population live below the poverty line. There are few industries, limited domestic production and high reliance on imports thus limited job opportunities in the market for the young people. About 80% of young South Sudanese have migrated from their communities idling in urban centres resulting in in the escalation of unemployment and petty crime in the towns.
The broad objective of the project is to develop capacity of young South Sudanese for various practical skills and knowledge to meet changing demands for socio economic development.
The project will work in collaboration with the government of South Sudan line ministries alongside with other stakeholders at the National , Statelevel, County and Payam levels. Activities will focus on the position and access of education and skill building opportunities for girls.
