The target areas is suffering immensely from the consequences of Hurricane Matthew. Sitrep 11 from OCHA shows that Sud is the 2nd most hit department after Grand Anse. There are serious needs on Food Security, Education, Health and Nutrition, WASH, Child Protection Early Recovery, Shelter and NFIs. Operation is made difficult through the damaged infrastructure and communication lines.
The NLRC assessment team in the Sud Department has identified urgent gaps in the field of WASH in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew. Access to clean water is low (water facilities are damaged) and hygiene practices and opportunities are limited making the population vulnerable to diseases. This project reduces vulnerability of target population related to WASH and livelihood in Haiti-Sud.
The project aims at reaching 10,000 households with beter access to clean water and awareness of hygiene behaviour.
