Support to weapon-wounded patients in DRC (ICRC Operation)

Project information

In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the ICRC promotes compliance with international humanitarian law and helps people affected by conflict and violence to survive and become self-sufficient.
The NLRC supports the ICRC Democratic Republic of the Congo 2016 Operation. The ICRC, with the Red Cross Society of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, will provide emergency assistance to IDPs/returnees living in conflict-affected areas, to help them cover their immediate needs. National Society volunteers, weapon bearers and community members will receive training in administering first aid. Together with the health authorities, the ICRC will continue to help sick and wounded people, including victims of sexual violence, obtain access to suitable medical care, for example through regular support for health facilities.

The project focus is on weapon-wounded patients in Bukavu and Goma. The ICRC will help coordinate activities with Movement partners and other humanitarian actors to maximize impact and avoid duplication of effort.
