Limulunga is a rural district and among the most affected by child mortality as a result of water, sanitation and hygiene related diseases such as diarrhea. The main causes are low access to safe water and quality sanitation, as only 13% of the population in Limulunga has access to safe water supply.
The project target is to reduce diarrhea risk for children under five, through improved water and sanitation coverage, hygienic behavior, health seeking behaviour and improved access to community health services.
The project will target the populations of 80 selected villges, 25 schools and 11 health facilities in the Limulunga district. The implementing partner is The Zambian Cross with technical assistance from the Dutch Young Experts and in cooperation with the Netherlands Red Cross.
