Help those affected by hurricane Irma
Hurricane Irma, the most powerful hurricane ever recorded in the Atlantic Ocean, ripped through the Caribbean and caused unimaginable damage. Immediate assistance is of the utmost importance.
Every single building has been damaged by Irma
Now that the hurricane has passed, assessment teams are going out in affected areas today to get a clearer understanding of what the needs are. Local Red Cross volunteers are on the ground already providing first aid, shelter and water to those affected.
If you can’t get in touch with your family or friends…
Currently, the Dutch Red Cross is not actively seeking missing people. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has opened a website where you can check whether your family is safe. You can register information about your loved ones on the website if you can not contact them. The website is available in English and French.
In addition, we advise people in the affected area to contact the emergency department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs: +31 247 247 247. Family and friends who cannot get in touch with their loved ones can also call this number.
