Why?
This project contributes to the reduction of sexual and gender-based violence and the holistic care of Sexual and Gender-based Violence (SGBV) survivors in Bujumbura Mairie Province. Since April 2015, Burundi has faced a deteriarating socio-political and security situation in the pre- and post-electoral period. This period is characterized by disputes and violations of human rights, attacks by armed groups, assassinations and arrests. This resulted in refugee movements to neighboring countries and internally displaced persons. This situation also has serious repercussions on humanitarian needs and living conditions. What?
Activities within this project aim at (1) Strengthen the prevention of VSBG in the Municipality of Bujumbura Mairie in order to change perceptions and behaviors; (2) Increase access to care services for VSBG survivors and attendance of these services through the strengthening of care facilities for VSBG survivors & (3) Strengthen the prevention of SGBV and the care of survivors in Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps.
Who?
The project aims at 12,520 boys and girls in the age of 15 to 24. Mass communication awareness activities will reach 21,300 persons.
