Contribution to IFRC Operational Plans Yemen of 2021 and 2022
NLRC funding source: Block Grant 2018-2021 – Chronic Crises Yemen remains as the worst humanitarian crisis in the world according to international organizations including the UN. Most recent figures indicate a current estimate of 24.3 million people in need across the country, a slight increase from last year’s figure1, noting that the total population of Yemen is estimated at 30.5 million. This is mainly due to the prolonged and escalating armed conflict which has been accompanied in 2020 with natural disasters of heavy rains and floods in addition of the onset of COVID-19 in a country with collapsed health system and high rates of poverty, food insecurity and malnutrition.
