Why?
This programme strengthens community resilience in the Horn of Africa. This can be reached by strengthening local mechanisms that can provide what the governments cannot ensure, and to increase livelihood resilience and strengthen the communities’ capacities so they can better withstand climate shocks, protect ecosystems, and are less prone to (the effects of) violence. By helping communities to build their livelihood capacities, they are building their ability to cope with and resist conflict, climate shocks and environmental degradation, and thus gradually grow from fragile to resilient communities.
