Why?

This project improves the living conditions of 2,500 families in Cameroon through health care, water, sanitation and hygiene promotion, food security, nutrition and livelihoods support, shelter and non-food items, disaster preparedness and risk reduction, and national society capacity building. Sinds 2013 an inceasing influx of refugees flee armed conflict in Nigeria. In 2014 the Far North region of Camaroun faces 48.000 refugees and 30.000 internally displaced persons. In 2015 IFRC agreed with the CRC to deliver assistance in the Far North region. Activities will tke place in the localities of Kolofata, Amchidé, Ashigasha, Mogode, Bourha, Goulfey, Mokolo, Roua, Kosa, Yagoua, Mora, and Kousseri.

What?

Planning of the project will focus on the following sectors: health care, water, sanitation and hygiene promotion, food security, nutrition and livelihoods support, shelter and non-food items, disaster preparedness and risk reduction, and National Society capacity building.

Who?

The 12,500 targeted beneficiaries (2,500 families) are those refugees that originated from Nigeria and have led to Cameroon, Cameroon-based IDPs, and host communities in the Far North Region according to the following ratio (1,000 Nigerian refugee families, 1,000 IDP families and 500 host population families in areas where there are no conflicts in the Far North region of Cameroon). Beneficiaries for health activities will specifically focus on the chronically ill, pregnant women, persons with disabilities, and the elderly.
