Why?
MRCS flood operations focused on search&rescue, First Aid, Shelter, WASH, Relief, Health and Livelihood. NLRC will support the provision of dignity kits (underwear, reusable sanitary bads and branded chilanje) to 5,000 households. Suppliers of underwear and sanitary pads have been located in Kampala and Nairobi. Branded chilanje is planned to be purchased locally in Malawi. From the 5th till the 10th of March 2019 Malawi experienced heavy rains accompanied by strong winds. The heavy rain resulted in extreme flooding and from that structural damage of houses and sanitation facilities across 14 districts in the Southern Region.
