Why?
Myanmar was hit by torrential rains in July 2015, causing landslides and floods that resulted in deaths, displacement, and loss of livelihoods and property. This situation was worsened when Cyclone Komen hit neighbouring Bangladesh, bringing strong winds and additional heavy rains. Over 480,000 houses were damaged along with over 1.4 million acres of farmland. Many of the over 1.6 million people displaced have returned to their homes.
