Why?
Repair and Reconstruction of Houses and Support to IDPs in Collective Centers, in Slavyansk (Donetsk Oblast) Donetsk Oblast experienced an armed conflict and is still experiencing regular violations of the ceasefire. Following the popular ouster of President Viktor Yanukovich, Russian military forces invaded and seized the peninsula of Crimea in late February, 2014. In the vacuum of governance from Kiev, armed uprisings took place in Donetsk Oblast and later in Lugansk Oblast as well. In July 2014, the Ukrainian army recovered control of several major towns. Among these was the city of Slavyansk. The project will be located in Eastern Ukraine, in the central, northern reach of Donetsk Oblast, in and around the city of Slavyansk.
What?
The project aims at Core Reconstruction, light and medium Repairs in less damaged Houses, providing windows and distrubution of NFIs and durable NFIs.
Who?
Beneficiaries for the core house reconstruction project represent the IDP’s showing the greatest needs in the Slavyansk region. About 59% are pensioners. While 81% are female heads-ofhousehold (matriarchs.) The beneficiary’s selection is in line with the overall distribution of disabled and children IDPs in Ukraine.
