Why?
The 510 initiative of the Netherlands Red Crossused its Priority Index for the Philippines to visualize the predicted impact from Typhoon Mangkhut, at municipal level, based on the typhoon forecast. Typhoon Mangkhut (local name Ompong) entered the Philippines Area of responsibility (PAR) on Wednesday 12 of September, 2018.
What?
Specific activities included:
– Use of the forecast information and the statistical model of the 510 team for predicting range of damages to Housing at municipal level.
– Visualization of anticipated impact (map, excel file) shared with PRC and its partners ahead of the landfall
– Analysis post typhoon, to compare prediction with actual damages.
