Why?
This project supports the Red Cross Society Central African Republic (CRCA) to enhance their emergency response capacity in selected regions. The country is prone to natural (climate) disasters and man-made disasters (conflict). CRCA is active in national, regional and local disaster response and has a DM unit but has received little support on RP whereas capacity building is needed to ensure nationwide coverage. Impact of core RP activities can be high, considering the small, but highly dedicated National Society. Central African Republic (CAR).
What?
RP3 aims at reinforcing the volunteers and staff of the Central-African Red Cross (CRCA). The outputs are:
1. The CRCA has tools and systems for analyzing and planning interventions (e.g. Standard Operating Procedures)
2. The CRCA has improved its operational intervention capacity (e.g. training staff, NDRT and CDRT on emergency needs assessments as well as exploring future Cash and Voucher Assistance opportunities)
3. The CRCA has implemented intervention policies, strategies and standards (e.g. installing a feedback- and complaints mechanism, and integrating Community Engagement and Accountability throughout all activities)
4. The CRCA has a solid intervention support system (e.g. having access to a contingency stock, a volunteer database, and budget for specific preparedness initiatives of local branches).
Who?
This cooperation with IFRC aims at improving Central African Red Cross Society and communities affected by disasters.
