Well prepared Red Cross/Red Crescent societies for disaster response: Lebanon Red Cross

Land: Lebanon
Vooruitgang: Implementation
Budget: € 1447159
Looptijd: 2016-04-30 - 2021-10-30

Why?

This project increases the speed and effectiveness of its response to major incidents and disasters in Lebanon of the Lebanese Red Cross (LRCS). Lebanon suffers from armed conflicts, landslides, floods, droughts, forest fires, population pressure (due to Syrian refugees). LRCS is a relative strong NS, with experience in RP, teams trained and dedicated to DM and response, and connections with other stakeholders. RPII can build on the experiences and groundwork of RP in the country and complements and/or connects well with activities by other PNS’. Moreover, it can informally support PRCSL in strengthening response capacity of this small NS with access to a specific vulnerable group (Palestinians in Lebanese refugee camps) and no official acknowledgement by the GoL. PRCSL thus has little financial and operational support from other donors, but the impact of basic RP activities can be high. PRCSL was also part of RP. The project takes place at the HQ in Spears and Hazmieh, in North Lebanon, Bekaa Valley, South Lebanon, Beirut and Northern Mount Lebanon

What?

RP-II aims at 1. Crisis Response Plan well disseminated throughout LRCS 2. Sufficient DM and EMS (emergency medical services) staff and volunteers are trained and available for response. 3. Adequate response infrastructure. 4. strong network to provide and improve its emergency response. 5. Adopted innovative response mechanisms (eg. FbF, CTP)
