From the beginning of the outbreak, the Red Cross has been providing information about the coronavirus. As it is a new virus, not everything is known about it. That is why it is crucial that people receive the correct information.
We provide advice to reduce the risk of transmission. It’s about simple things like washing your hands regularly and keeping your distance from others. In addition, there is special advice for the elderly and vulnerable. They are particularly susceptible to the virus and need additional support.
Deployment of volunteers
We are closely monitoring the situation and are in contact with government bodies. As in all other emergencies, as the Red Cross we are willing and prepared to support with trained volunteers.
Emergency staff in action worldwide
Our aid workers are active worldwide. This support differs in each country and region and consists of, among other things, providing information, providing aid packages to people in quarantine and providing psychosocial support to people who are anxious about the virus. In addition to this, there are active teams that deal with disinfection.
