The programme This Next Generation, Supporting the development of young people in war and conflict. The theme focuses on children and young adults who live in the most extreme circumstances and therefore have little chance on schooling and development. They are the silent victims of war. The funding of this programme is made possible by 3FM fundraising activity. The aim of the programme is to make young people who have to cope with conflict and that are part of ‘this next generation’ more resilient to the consequences of conflict. The programme assists the civilian population in Afghanistan, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and South Sudan (list might change)
The Red Cross supports the development of young people in war and conflict by focussing on four different area’s: education and personal development, psychosocial support, food and income for families, and emergency assistance.
A part of the funding is pledged to the ICRC general objectives of programmes carried out in favour of civilian population affected by armed conflict 2016, more specifically for the eco-sec and physical rehabilitation activities 2016. Those programmes focus on young people who have to cope with conflict.
