Why?
Every 2 seconds, someone in the world is forced to leave his/her home due to conflict or war. Ordinary civilians who are the victims of battles and oppression in their country. Some people look for safety elsewhere. The majority stays behind and tries to survive in damaged homes, often with constant threat of violence, lack of health care and with limited money for food and drinks. The Red Cross provides medical support, but also helps to provide primary needs such as safe water, food and shelter. With 3FM Serious Request: Lifeline, we get into action for these people.
The proceeds of the campaign will be earmarked in mutual agreement to South Sudan and Ukraine where ICRC conducts Economic Security and Health programmes. More specifically, this amount will be dedicated to the general objective of Economic Security and Health programmes in selected countries, in 2019 carrying out medical assistance, shelter and food security activities which includes the activities concerning distributing food packages, distributing blankets and mats which can assists as temporary shelter, vaccinations and providing victims with rehabilitation products, amongst others. These activities will be provided for the civilian population in South Sudan.
