Building community resilience to acute shocks and chronic stresses in Terekeka County, South Sudan

Vooruitgang: Implementation
Budget: € 1153125
Looptijd: 2020-09-30 - 2022-05-30

Why?

Enable 8670 Households – 43,350 vulnerable people to build resilience to acute shocks and chronic stresses through targeted programming to increase access to WASH basic services and livelihoods and reduce protection concerns in Terekeka County (South Sudan) in a span of one and half years. A Resilience Index Measurement and Analysis methodology was applied in 2019 to understand how South Sudanese households cope with shocks and stressors. According to the Resilience Capacity Index Terekeka County has one of the lowest resilience capacities in South Sudan. In Terekeka County about 136,600 people are in great humanitarian need (55%). The most prevalent shocks experienced by households, such as unusually high food prices, irregular rains, prolonged dry spells, reduced income for household members, and insecurity or violence, have a significant negative effect on resilience. The number of people in great humanitarian need is likely to further increase in 2020 because of increased mobility amongst IDPs and spontaneous return of refugees. This Intervention will target 4 Payams and 11 Bomas in Terekeka County:
1. Terekeka (Buko, Nyikabor, Juba Bayak and Bor)
2. Muni (Yukara and Gabuta)
3. Reggo (Mogiri Guk, Buju and Buranga)
4. Nyori (Lwoki and Nyori)
