Why?
The project is based on the Integrated Risk Management framework an enhanced, holistic approach to increase community resilience by integrated disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation and ecosystem management and restoration. To integrate disaster risk reduction with climate and ecosystems, this project touches upon three components: Disaster Risk Reduction, Water and Sanitation and Livelihood. The Young Expert will contribute to the SGDS and YEP Themes by providing technical assistance to achieve project goals that are in line with SDG 3,6, 11,13 and 17. Through the Young Expert Programme the Young Expert has access to a mentoring, coaching and supervision programme, a six-week training trajectory over a period of two years and a Young Expert alumni network that can serve as a stepping stone in her career. What?
The Dutch Young Expert will provide the Red Cross with technical support and training for the water and sanitation component of the Tacloban project in the Philippines. The Young Expert will be given the opportunity to learn about Water and Sanitation interventions during disasters and emergencies by working closely with experienced staff of the Red Cross.
