Why?
This project promotes livelihood conditions and reinforces resilience of vulnerable communities in the river basis of Senegal in the Kayes region in Mali. IRIS (Initiative pour le basin de fleuve Senegal) is an integrated risk reduction programma, which reinforces ressilience of communities living in the river basin. The project supports local Red Cross and Red Cressent Society to establish a geographical presence, to assist with technical knowledge, and to help participate external parties in assistence. The project focussen on 2 zones in the Senegal river basin, Logo-Dinguira and Ambidedi.
What?
The project stimulates capacity building. Hygiene and sanitation kits are distributed in the communities. Cattle stock is restored to improve community resillience for future disasters.
Who?
The project is a collaboration between Malinese and Netherlands Red Cross. Activities are planed in Logo-Dinguira and Ambidedi communities. The project has special attention for the contribution of women in the process of improving food security.
