Why?

Zambia Drought Response – Provision of unconditional Emergency Cash, Promotion of Climate Smart Agriculture, Water and sanitation and Malnutrition screening A combination of prolonged, severe drought in the Western and Southern provinces of Zambia over the past two rainy seasons in 2017 and 2018, and floods in the north, have increased hunger, with more than 2.3 million people across the country were severely food insecure through to April 2020. Zambia is currently facing an acute food insecurity situation with 58 districts in at least IPC 3 phase classification Kalabo District has 23,816 people targeted out of a total 87,565 affected population in the district. This accounts for 27.2% of the affected population in the district

What?

The main focus intervention areas are:
 Cash distribution (selected beneficiaries ) for 4 months
 Climate smart Agriculture
 Water and sanitation at community and school level
 Early detection of acute malnutrition in children under 5 years
 Monitor and evaluate – assessment / beneficiary re-identification , real time evaluation (RP2 – lessons learnt for improved response of this operation and any future interventions, end line evaluation)
